◊◊◊ Wesley is your typical American boy from an all American family, with WASP-y parents and a spoiled sibling, participating in most of the sports offered in school, excelling in his studies, and doing it all with a smile on his face. At least for the most part. From a very young age, he's been encouraged to do his very best in everything, which perhaps sparked his competitive nature and need to beat everyone, whether it is in school or sports. As most of his close friends know, Wes hates to lose, and will even resort to cheating in order to attain his goal. And while he doesn't rub the fact that he wins in anyone's face, the pride that his parents show, and the glow of success that he feels is very important to him. In high school, a fellow soccer teammate, also found this out, when during a soccer game that Wes’ father was watching, he decided he wanted to beat the team himself, and therefore fouled one of his own players to do so. He hasn't done anything that severe since, but he will certainly stop at no lengths to come out the champion.
◊◊◊ As the only son and heir to his 'family legacy' as his father calls it, Wes has an unfair amount of pressure dropped right on top of him. While his younger sister, OPEN, can get away with anything and not be berated for it. As for Wesley, if he ever were to get lower than an B on any of his school assignments, or miss an opportunity in any of his games, his mother and father came down on him hard. They said that it was because they wanted him to push himself to the extent of his ability, but he figured that it was because they were trying to live vicariously through him and feel better about themselves. OPEN is the disappointing child, as she put it, while Wes is the golden boy, otherwise known as the 'perfect one', though he is anything but perfect.
◊◊◊ When it comes to girls, Wes doesn't automatically go for the hottest or sluttiest. Instead, he prefers a challenge. In the case of OPEN 2, he saw a girl who didn't know how cool she really was, and didn't have her entire life out on display, which made him want to get to know her and learn more. Of course that didn’t last, the two started to have problems, when OPEN 2 realized, that Wes was willing to drop anything, including her, to go be by his best friend, Abi’s side.
◊◊◊ He and Abigail, after having to much to drink, had a one night stand. She became pregnant as luck would have it. Wes knew that she hoped that he would leave OPEN 2 for her, and he would have, because he loved her, but he was terrified of the idea that he was going to have a family, and so instead insisted that OPEN 2 not find out, and later moved to California followed by OPEN 2. He only just returned a few months ago, single, ready to be a father, and even more in love with Abigail than before, but he isn’t quite ready to admit to the last part yet.
◊◊◊ He is extremely outgoing when around the WKC or his other close friends, though while with a girlfriend or new people, he gives off an almost shy, quiet appearance. He acts nice and friendly, though while with his tight knit gang of friends, he might be considered a bit of a jackass. Especially when drunk.
◊◊◊ He's known to do extremely stupid things while in a state of inebriation, mostly to prove a point to someone, or to win (are we seeing a pattern here?). Wes isn't one to start a confrontation, but if he has friends involved, then he will definitely join in and defend them. He is very loyal to his true friends, and takes backstabbing seriously. Though he will not resort to physical violence, unless it's entirely necessary. He'd much prefer to play the role of a mediator in conflicts among friends and enemies.
◊◊◊ Born May 10th, 1988, Wesley Devon Hollingsworth was the first child to the newly married couple. The two had bickered for weeks about his name, going from David, to Jeremy, to Joseph, and finally deciding on Wesley. They had read every book about parenting that there was, and yet even then, they did not have even an inkling about what to do with their newborn child. Luckily for them, he was an average child in all respects, crying when he was supposed to, needing food when the book said he would, and sleeping through the night with only a few interruptions. However, even then, the two felt slightly overwhelmed by the sudden new life in their household, and quickly resorted to hiring a nanny to take care of him when they felt that they couldn't. So from a very young age of two months, Wes was looked after by a nanny who moved into the Hollingsworth estate to be there at all times. This allowed both parents to go about what they needed to do every day, such as work and other more frivolous things.
◊◊◊ He spoke his first words by the time he was about one, and his parents had never been prouder. They insisted that their baby was a genius, and immediately bought all of the toys that he would need in order to develop his tiny brain in time to win a Nobel Prize. Perhaps if Wes had known what this was, he would have spent less time sucking on the plastic blocks, and more time fitting them into the slots provided for him, but probably not, because Wes still to this day has no real desire to be a nobel peace prize winner.
◊◊◊ When Wes was two years old, he was given the gift of a baby sister named OPEN (the name decided by their mother, of course - as George had given up on fighting with her over it). He was immediately intrigued by the thing that looked like a small animal, and wanted to be around her every chance he got. Although Wes was not yet old enough to fully understand what was going on, he quickly bonded with OPEN and paid more attention to her than even his parents did.
◊◊◊ As they both grew older, Wes shied away from having any sort of friendship with his sister, considering her to be 'stupid' and 'girly'. This continued up until he was about ten, by which time he decided that she was okay, and not as dumb as he had thought her to be. They didn't share hair tips or anything, but he stopped pulling her hair and punching her in the shoulder every time she bothered him from that point onward. They went to the same elementary school, but when he moved on to attend Longport Junior High, OPEN was still spending her time in elementary. ◊◊◊ He went to Longport High and was accepted on to the football team, guaranteeing him at least a few friends. He spent his first two years just trying to do his best in sports and class without worrying about girls (though he was definitely finding this to be a bit of a problem, since they were all very attractive to him). It wasn't until later that he met OPEN 2, a sweet blonde who immediately intrigued him, that he started dating. He wasn't one to shy away from commitment, so by their Junior year, things were starting to get pretty serious. Nothing had moved too fast, but he really felt an attachment with her, and wanted them to stay together until graduation and even later.
◊◊◊ This plan was destroyed, of course, when news that after a one night stand with his very best friend, Abigail that he had gotten her pregnant. Abi promised not to tell OPEN 2, and for a long time the secret remained, in fact the two even moved to California together. Wes remained quiet and let it all happen, feeling terrible on the inside, and very torn. After almost 8 months in California, he spilled his guts to OPEN 2, and they promptly moved back to Longport, and she of course ended things. This probably would have been terrible, had he not realized during the whole ordeal, just how in love with his best friend he was, but as mentioned earlier, he isn’t quite ready to admit to that yet.
◊◊◊ Since then, he's tried his best to get involved in both the baby and Abigail’s life, but it hasn’t been easy. He’s also told his parents (both were extremely disappointed), enrolled in college at Montclair State University, majoring in Biochemistry, in hopes that he will be able to one day move on to med school. He also works part time at the local Applebees as a server.
